What is Ocean Mode?

Roam Unlimited users can opt in and pay for Ocean Mode to enable coverage beyond 12 nautical miles or to connect in territorial waters for longer than the 5 consecutive days/60 days a year cap where Starlink provides active coverage around the world. Ocean Mode also provides higher network priority than Roam data everywhere Starlink is available.

Enable:

  • Web: Go to "Subscriptions", select your desired service line, then under "Data," enable "Ocean Mode.”
  • App: Tap the Person icon, then “Data Usage,” and enable "Ocean Mode.”
  • Ocean mode is billed-per-GB and begins immediately once enabled. It will remain enabled until you toggle it off in your account.
  • Ocean mode provides higher network priority than Roam data. While it is intended for use on water, you can enable ocean mode while on land (billed-per-GB) and receive higher priority service compared to Roam data.

Note: You will need ocean mode to connect on international waters (beyond 12 nautical miles from land). Ocean mode data will appear on your next invoice and continues in future billing cycles until you disable. See Can I use Starlink on the ocean? or What are the Roam service plans? for more details on this feature.

Disable:

  • Web: Go to "Subscriptions", select the service line you want to modify, then under "Data", toggle "Ocean Mode" off.
  • App: Tap the Person icon, then "Data Usage," and toggle "Ocean Mode" off.

Note: Ocean Mode was previously referred to as Global Priority Data.
